Gyotaku Workshop

On November 9, 2013, active fisherman and marine scientist Nakoa Goo led us in a workshop on Gyotaku!  Before starting our fish prints, Nakoa shared his knowledge about Hawai'i's nearshore reef ecosystems including the conservation of nearshore fisheries resources in Hawai'i and the anatomy and biology of native reef fish species.  This way, we could really understand and appreciate the vast ocean that surrounds us as well as this beautiful art form.  After a quick demo, we spent the rest of the time printing on paper, t-shirts, bags, dish towels, and other materials using real fish.  Mahalo nui to Nakoa for providing us an engaging and hands-on experience!
