This workshop looked at both the curative and preventative aspects of La‘au Lapa‘au, a Hawaiian healing practice that employs plants and minerals to cure illness and injury. Participants gained knowledge of basic herbs and preparations, as well as information about lifestyle choices that keep ourselves, our communities, and our ‘aina healthy and strong. Practitioner Krista Steinfeld led the workshop.

Simple and Healthy Cooking with Locally Grown Foods
Chef Leslie Ashburn, of Macrobiotic Hawaii provided simple ideas and demonstrated how to make several healthy recipes using fresh local food, reconnecting to the goodness of the earth and its natural resources. Participants learned tips on how to lead a healthy diet, found information on where to get all kinds of locally grown foods, and got to sample some of these delicious recipes!
